In Cherry Hill, the Fourth of July is much more than fireworks and picnics.
“This day is a celebration of freedom and our preservation and love of liberty, liberty that was built on the backs of true patriots,”
Mayor Bernie Platt said. “Now, like every year at this time, we pay tribute to our great country and the great men and women who built its renowned foundation. This is a day we observe the deliverance of the inalienable rights enjoyed by all in these United States of America.”
To celebrate this day of patriotism, the township and TD Bank are inviting residents to a free, family-friendly Fourth of July observance on Saturday, July 4 at Cherry Hill West’s Michael J Santarpio, Jr Memorial Field at Jonas Morris Stadium.
Families are invited to bring a blanket or lawn chairs with them to enjoy a musical performance by the band Bizzare Silence as well as a fireworks display.
The gates will open at 7 p.m. and the program begins at 8 p.m. The fireworks will follow at 9 p.m.
In the event of inclement weather, the fourth of July celebration will be held on Sunday, July 5.
“A great man once said that America is much more than a geographical fact,” Platt said. “It is a political and moral fact – the first community in which men set out in principle to institutionalize freedom, responsible government and human equality.”
